Modifications and add-ons
To get this bike where I wanted to go there are a few things you can do to help and make the trip a bit smoother.
The modifications I had in mind included:
* Bigger tank, Acerbis makes a nice 23 liters tank for the XT, so I went with that one and a lockable lid

* Luggage cases with rack (hard boxes or soft bags) and a rear rack. I did go for german based Touratech Zega cases. Made of 1,5 mm aluminum, very waterproof and lockable with padlocks (Thanks for the padlocks Örjan)

* Centerstand, good when changing tyres

* Bashplate and brushguards for bikeprotection. I made a simple bashplate of 2mm aluminum and attached to the
stock metal guard under the enginge. For handlebar protection, acerbis rallye guard.

* Roadbook, but I ended up with just a map case attached over the tank infront of me
* Airfilter, Pipercross cleanable foam filter
* X-ring chain, D.I.D does some nice ones
* Knobbly tires, Pirelli MT21 (21" 90/90 front and 17" 130/80 back) are nice and worked like a charm
